Google Analytics success!

As the dog days of summer become the crisp mornings and cool evenings of fall.  I'm finding it a bit difficult to get infront of the iMac to do another video blog.

I do have some news to report.  The Google Analytics are up and running and I'm getting traffic!  Not much right now, however traffic is traffic!  I'm going away this weekend and hanging out with an IT friend of mine that may be able to help with some of the content and how I can capitalize on it to drive hits to the site.  I'm going to use Google Keyword tool to try to come up with ideas of keywords to use in my content. I will try to implement these changes at the end of the weekend.  Once this is done I will start to advertise my site on facebook, linked in, twitter and anyother social media site that will help drive traffic using my current network.

Google analytics

Last night I found out some very interesting things about iWeb.  When publishing to an FTP site it's much easier if you republish the entire site.  I found that the index.html file wasn't getting updated so it didn't have all the changes.

Tonight I'll do my second video blog about adding google analytics to the you iweb website.  It's not that difficult and seems to be working well. 

Once this has been implemented and tested, I'm going to work on the content of the site to try to make it something that someone would visit and find more interesting that just a resume.  I'm going to work on ensuring keywords and phrases are placed on every page and those keywords are in the meta tags as well.

Change of blogging plans

I'm going to be changing a few plans for www.ronmcinnis.ca. I'm going to not only be adding to this blog but I'm going to do a video blog of some of the things that I'm working on to increase visabiltiy of the site on all search engines, focusing on Google, Yahoo and Bing.  I will post these blogs to You Tube and link them back to the site.  This in itself will be helpful in being ranked higher on SERP pages. 

Once this is up and running I'll start to look at Google Analytics and see what is being successful.

Google has indexed the website

A quick search in google of www.ronmcinnis.ca shows that google has now indexed the site and knows that it is live.  I then did a seach for ron mcinnis and the site appeared 5th in the listings under my Linked in, facebook, twitter and a listing for white pages.

I have shared the website with my Linked in connections to get some feedback from my connections.  In the next few days I'll do the same with facebook and Google +.  Once I start to get some feedback from these sources I'll look at making some additional changes and start to make SEO changes and chonical the results.

Website second launch

This evening I fixed the mistakes that I made in the first launch of the site....

I've added a facebook like button and a Linked in profile link to my profile, the Google + link doesn't seem to be working. I'll have to look at that tomorrow night.  I've put my Twitter link onto the contact page and renamed it Contact/follow me.  I'll look at this in the near future and see if I like it.

One of the best things that I did wad put an RSS feed from this blog.  If I keep blogging this should help with SEO. 

The final change that I did was add a short video to the Bio page.  The only think that I forgot to do was to change the meta tags on the video so that Google can see it.

Website went live

Last night I sent my new website that I built on iWeb live.  www.ronmcinnis.ca has been up and running.  Over all the experiece with iWeb has been favourable.  I downloaded SEO for iWeb to help with meta tages and keywords.  It also allowed me to label pictures.  I have a few small errors with the Linkedin button and the facebook like button.  I've also now found the HTML for the twitter feed and google + button.  I'll add this tonight. 

I'm using Godaddy.com to host the site.  The upload to through the FTP site was simple using iWeb, but I did call the support line because it didn't go live instantly.  I made a chane to DNS server and this took a few hours to become active. 

One thing that I find amazing is how many times I proof read the site, then when it went live, how many mistakes I found.  I'm going to fixing them tonight.

First Blog

Well this is my first blog... I'll be using this to let everyone know about what I've learned about SEM and SEO and the how to help my reps learn and sell these products.

I'm currenly working on my website www.ronmcinnis.ca right now it's just an insta page supplied by godaddy when I registered my donmain name.  I'm hoping to get this site to where I can show my employer, Canpages that a site like mine would help sales reps understand a website better and how the products that they sell can effect change for thier customers.
